I’m Yuki, a felt florist based in the UK. Over the past five years, I have delivered handmade felt flowers to more than 3,000 customers in 15 countries. Eleven years ago, I became a mother when my child was born. Along with a sense of responsibility that I was needed by this child, I also experienced a newfound happiness in witnessing their daily growth. However, when my second child was born, I began to feel exhausted from juggling childcare and household chores. My priorities underwent a complete shift, and I started to lose sight of myself.

It was at that moment that I spontaneously decided to make a felt donut, just for my child’s pretend play. I was captivated by the charm of felt, which allowed me to create something beautiful in a short time, without the need for finishing the edges. I realized the importance of carving out time for myself and doing things I love, of truly facing myself.

After that, I started making cakes and sushi, and the collection of play food items grew rapidly. I still remember the joy on my children’s faces. During that time, I changed my approach a little and tried making a rose flower. Suddenly, my heart bloomed, and the room became brighter. It was a moment when I felt a connection with nature, even though the flowers were artificial. I had always loved flowers, and from there, I became increasingly drawn to the charm of felt flowers.
